 Contact & fees

I am Alex V. Priala, your hypnotherapist - a certified naturopath (UK and Fr), published independent scholar, and master practitioner of Somatic Hypnotherapy with an established clinic in Beaconsfield, on the west side of Montreal Island.

Is Somatic Hypnotherapy the right approach for you?

Somatic Hypnotherapy is usually sought by those who feel that, despite their efforts, persistent emotional or somatic issues remain unresolved. Many have already tried other approaches and are looking for a new way to address what is still disturbing and persists "within" — whether you call that inner space your subconscious, your soul, your spirit, your peripheral nervous system, or simply your body.

Given the deep, thorough, and emotionally intensive nature of this work, Somatic Hypnotherapy is not a walk-in service. Since I can only take on a limited number of clients, I focus primarily on situations where this approach offers the greatest potential for meaningful and lasting change, primarily helping those facing complex, persistent, or seemingly refractory problems — often after other avenues have failed. Before reaching out, please make sure this approach genuinely meets your needs.

Somatic Hypnotherapy is neither coaching, nor life advice, nor a form of psychotherapy. My practical goal is to help you release the patterns of inadequate emotional responses that keep you trapped in your past — improving your state of mind, your behavioral patterns, and your quality of life. This approach can help you get rid of whatever disturbing feelings and their undesirable consequences. If what you are looking for is a profound, efficient, and lasting reset of the emotional weight you carry, you are in the right place.

This approach works best for people who understand — or are genuinely open to understanding — that thoughts, feelings, and emotions are not interchangeable terms, and that what has the power to fulfill or jeopardize a life is not necessarily the cognitive memory of past events, but the emotional feelings those memories still arouse. You do not have to understand all of these before your first session, but you have to at least be open to it.

Who can apply for an appointment?

As a semi-retired practitioner with limited availability, I give priority to my long-standing clients and to new requests through referrals. However, I remain available to anyone facing a complex, deeply rooted, or seemingly intractable emotional situation - particularly those who have already tried other approaches without lasting relief, and who are considering Somatic Hypnotherapy as a last resort. If your situation matches one of the descriptions above, please feel free to apply; I would be delighted to help you. A thoroughly completed contact form is your best advocate.

Before applying, please verify that your issue falls within my areas of expertise. These include - but are not limited to - stress, anxiety, and panicemotional trauma, grief, rejection, and angerchronic pain, tension, and ticsself-sabotage and behavioral patterns; and a wide range of stress-related somatic conditions. If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies, describe it as clearly as you can in the contact form - I will read it personally and let you know.

Before booking, I invite you to self-assess your anxiety online and make an informed choice. If your self-assessed score is extremely low, it's likely that your problems aren't necessarily related to trauma, stress, or anxiety, or that you're disconnected from your emotional feelings. In this case, this approach might not be the most appropriate.

How to fill out the contact form — a practical guide.

The contact form is the first and most important step in our therapeutic relationship. Please read the following guidance carefully before submitting your request, as a well-completed form significantly increases your chances of being accepted - and helps me prepare a session perfectly tailored to your needs.

Describe your situation - not your diagnosis. I am neither a medical doctor nor a licensed psychologist in Quebec, and my work is not necessarily based on your diagnosis, DSM classifications, or laboratory results. What matters to me is not what you have been told you have, but what you experience, how you feel, and how your daily life is affected. Please describe your situation in your own words - describe what bothers you, how long it has been present, and what it costs you in quality of life.

Mention if you believe your issue has an emotional root. While Somatic Hypnotherapy targets emotional feelings as the primary vehicle of change, many clients come to me with somatic or behavioral conditions - autosabotage, chronic fatigue, burnout, chronic pain, autoimmune flare-ups, digestive problems, insomnia, and other issues they sense may be emotionally influenced or induced. If this resonates with your situation, please say so. A candid answer is far more useful than a polished one. There are no wrong answers.

Tell me what you have already tried. I genuinely want to know what other approaches you have explored - whether conventional therapy, medication, coaching, or other modalities - and what results, if any, they produced. This is not a judgment; it is essential context that helps me understand the complexity of your situation and assess whether I can realistically help.

State your expectations clearly. What do you hope to feel, experience, or be able to do after your Somatic Hypnotherapy sessions that you cannot feel, experience, or do now? Concrete, honest expectations - even imperfect ones - help me gauge whether this approach can deliver what you are looking for and allow me to set realistic benchmarks for your first session.

No need to share more than you are comfortable with. You do not need to disclose details of memories or experiences you would rather not discuss. Somatic Hypnotherapy does not require you to recount your past in detail. Just as a broken bone heals whether or not you remember how it broke, emotional healing can happen without knowing the details of how you were hurt.

What to expect from the therapy.

Somatic Hypnotherapy is a team effort. My role is to guide you in identifying and resetting accumulated emotional feelings - stress, anxiety, trauma, grief, guilt, shame, pain, and much more. Your role is to show up with genuine willingness to change. Unlike approaches that promise results you may experience eventually, with Somatic Hypnotherapy you assess your results on the spot, within the session itself.

I rarely work with a client for more than three sessions, regardless of the complexity of the issue. You will experience meaningful improvement after each session. And if by the end of your first session you see no improvement in the issue we have worked on, I will not charge you. That is my commitment, and it has been since the beginning.

As a Quebec-based certified hypnotherapist, I am bound by professional secrecy and all other applicable national and provincial regulations. My services are still covered by certain private insurers. Contact your insurance provider to learn about your coverage.

Fees: First session (2–3 hours): $160. Subsequent follow-up sessions: $120. You can pay in cash or by e-transfer at the end of your session.

My consultations are always face-to-face, private, confidential, and by appointment only. Please allow 2 to 3 hours for our initial meeting.

* In Somatic Hypnotherapy, the terms "feelings" and "emotional feelings" refer to sensory experiences perceived on or "within" the body, from which the rational mind constructs "emotions," through a well-documented process called interoception – which is consistent with their traditional, biological and medical meanings. This differs considerably from cognitive psychology, where the terms "feelings" and "emotions" are often used interchangeably. In certain contexts, "feeling(s)" may refer to their somatic (physical) component alone — see: Thoughts, Feelings, Emotions.pdf

**The results may vary from person to person.

***In other words, if at the end of your session you don't see any improvement in the issues addressed in therapy, I won't accept your money!
