Contact, fees

My name is Alex V. Priala. I am a certified naturopath, master practitioner, and trainer in Somatic Hypnotherapy. I am a passionate and authentic craftsman of health and well-being, an active member of various professional associations, with over twenty years of experience in listening, advising, and helping others to experience positive changes.

Studying social sciences and advanced technologies in my youth helped me develop an analytical mind rooted in laic beliefs and ideals. However, as I got older, I realized how limited the epistemological power of science was. Thus, I learned that it is only with the heart that one can see clearly, and I finally understood that helping others in difficult times is the well-kept secret of the happiness of a fulfilled life. Since then, I have made it my mission to help people improve their lives - and I love what I do! My excellent references bear witness to my integrity and the good results of my approach.

It all started over 30 years ago when I was fascinated by the incredible effectiveness of some of the traditional Eastern healing approaches I have benefited from while seeking healing for myself. These personal experiences marked the beginning of a passion for ancient forms of hypnotherapy and ancestral healing rituals, a passion that has grown over time into a professional career that I love. With a solid scientific background and a university degree in social sciences, in pursuing my vocation, I have attended several conferences and seminars on trans-personal and somatic psychology, parapsychology, ritual healing practices, and various other holistic approaches to health and well-being.

I don't advise or coach people on how to live their lives. Whatever you feel like thinking or doing in your life, it is none of my business! However, when you often surprise yourself by thinking, feeling, or doing things you would gladly do without, I can help you regain control. Thanks to its customized approach, Somatic Hypnotherapy is one of the quickest and most reliable approaches to uprooting stress, anxiety, traumas, phobias, insomnia, chronic pain, grief, guilt, shame, unwanted behaviors, bad habits, and much more. The practical goal of my work is to help you live the life you dreamed of or regain control of your life by selectively suppressing unwanted emotional and somatic feelings - thus improving your state of mind, behavior and quality of life.

Somatic Hypnosis is a team effort! My mission is to help you experience quick and lasting positive changes as you see fit. While helping you identify and reset your accumulated stress, anxiety, trauma, and other unwanted feelings is my job, learning from your experiences and living your daily life is your job! It is still your job to understand that what has the power to fulfill or jeopardize your life is not the cognitive memory of past events but the associated emotional feelings that your memories still arouse. It's like when you'd accidentally hurt yourself; what bothers you is not the memory of the accident but the pain you feel. And it will only bother you to the extent that, and only for as long as you feel the pain!

Somatic Hypnotherapy is a contemporary version of Traditional Hypnotherapy - as described by Dr. James Braid in terms of an empirical medical approach, updated with the rigor of the most advanced Western scientific models. Somatic Hypnotherapy has successfully integrated and developed various visionary scientific models into a coherent therapeutic practice, notably the Somatic Markers Hypothesis, the concept of Emotional Coherence, the Ritual Healing Theory, and the Morphic Fields Theory. The hallmark of Somatic Hypnotherapy is using a particular metaphorical language aimed at triggering a subtle yet powerful process of neuro-linguistic modulation - a process capable of regulating the somatic component of any unwanted emotion or unpleasant feeling you wish to suppress.*

When it comes to scientific evidence, one of the most misleading claims is that science is unequivocal. It is good to know that science is never settled, and it is exceptionally rare to end up with a scientific consensus on anything. When dealing with emotional or behavioral issues, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore psychiatry, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic-programming, E.F.T., pet therapy, art therapy, mindfulness, yoga, craniosacral therapy, gravity blanket, mini-horses therapy, and many other approaches based on very contradictory yet scientific concepts and models of human behavior are all available to help to solve various emotional and behavioral issues. However, what matters for all practical purposes are the results!

Beyond popularity or academic recognition, the proper measures of the effectiveness of any therapeutic approach are the results - especially when they are measurable and reproducible. Thus, the predictability of the good results of Somatic Hypnotherapy is an undeniable confirmation of the conceptual coherence of this highly effective approach to health and well-being. Thus, even if Somatic Hypnotherapy is teamwork, the principle of "no results - no pay" is the ethical guarantor of my work, and it applies to all my therapies. In other words: if you see no improvement in the problems we have been working on at the end of your therapy session, I will not accept your money! Aside from its spectacular results, this approach works with everyone - unless you have difficulty experiencing emotional feelings.

Unlike other therapeutic approaches that promise results you may eventually experience in the future, with Somatic Hypnotherapy, you will assess most of your results on the spot immediately after each therapy session. During your first session in Somatic Hypnotherapy, you will experience profound changes. Throughout your therapy, you can change the emotional reading of your past as you see fit. You'll have the chance to diminish significantly or winnow away unwanted emotions, pain, and other unpleasant feelings. However, please keep in mind that complete remission of complex or deeply rooted issues may require more than one therapy session.*.

If you want to take full advantage of the promised changes, please leave behind all your assumptions about how your brain is supposed to control your emotions and come with an open mind and no preconceived ideas. Because as long as no therapy can push your healing beyond the limits of your beliefs, you have most likely already reached the limits of positive changes allowed by what you know or assume you know about the mind, fear, stress, anxiety, trauma, feelings, emotions and the 82 various models of behavior. The time has come to dare to think outside the box. Therefore, when looking for extraordinary results, you better consider out-of-the-ordinary approaches!

Nevertheless, with my approach, you don't run the risk of getting bogged down in endless therapy sessions, as I rarely give a client more than three sessions in a row, regardless of the issue at hand. You will experience significant improvements after each session, regardless of the extent or severity of the problem being treated. If ever, at the end of your first session, you do not notice an improvement in the issue you want to solve, it is very likely that this approach is not your therapy of choice and is not worth pursuing.

Unlike other approaches, in Somatic Hypnotherapy, not only are your results guaranteed, but you don't even need to know or understand the exact cause of your issues to be able to uproot them. Since this approach focuses on your emotional feelings - not what you think about your emotions - knowing the factual details of your past is not essential to trigger healing. In real life, with proper care, your fractured bone will heal the same way whether or not you understand why or how it broke.

Somatic Hypnotherapy is a naturopathic approach I uncovered in Eastern Europe, updated, and did my best to explain it in a laic (secular), consistent, and easy-to-follow way, thereby demystifying it and making it accessible to everyone. As a National Association of Naturopaths member, I am bound by professional confidentiality, and most private insurance covers my services. For more information on your coverage, please get in touch with your insurance company.

My consultations and therapy sessions are always private, confidential, in person, and available by appointment at my clinic in Beaconsfield, Montreal. Your first therapy session will follow your free-of-charge take-in assessment, which takes 15 to 60 minutes of our first meeting.

I charge my sessions at a variable rate depending on the complexity of the issues to be solved and the treatment required. However, the fees are at most $160 for the first session and $120 for each possible follow-up session. You can pay your fees in cash or by e-transfer.

Please allow 2-3 hours for our initial meeting - although the therapy session should last at most 60-90 minutes.
